We want our pensions to fund a sustainable future
The pensions proposals outlined in the Chancellor’s Budget will not go far enough for the planet and its people, despite it being good to see that there will be increased investment in the UK. For too long, pension funds have invested our money in harmful industries like fossil fuels, unhealthy foods, and those built on unfair wages.
The current Pensions Review presents a chance to fix the flaws in the current system, supporting savers and helping to build a more sustainable economy for us all.
We’re asking you to contact your MP to support ShareAction’s ask to reform pensions law before the Pension Schemes Bill is announced. Pension funds must consider the impact of their investments on both the environment and society as well as the returns they make.
We’ve drafted an email for you to send to your MP, which you can edit to reflect your concerns. For example, do you worry about the impact your pension is having on the planet? Do you worry about the world that you’re leaving behind for future generations? Do you think it’s unfair that a pension fund can use your savings in a way that conflicts with your values?
